Each Monday night on the Waldron Stage of Mill Mountain Theatre, the Playwright’s Lab at Hollins University presents a talk by a prominent working professional theatre artist. This week’s guest is Bonnie Metzgar, who most recently has been serving as interim artistic director of American Theatre Company of Chicago. She served as the artistic director of About Face Theatre from 2008–13. She recently directed Anna Deavere Smith’s documentary play Let Me Down Easy at ATC. Metzgar’s play You Lost Me was a 2014 Finalist for the Eugene O’Neill National Playwrights Festival, and was selected for the 2014 Great Plains Theater Conference in Omaha. She currently serves on the National Advisory Committee for Howlround at ArtsEmerson, and has taught at a number of universities, including Brown, University of Chicago, and DePaul. She received her M.F.A. in playwriting from the University of Iowa and her B.A. from Brown.
