Description
Knowledge is power, and, when applied to your outdoor adventures, it can save your life. Come join us for Take It Outside, brush up on basic outdoor skills, and learn about gear that is useful for a day outing or a longer stay in the backcountry.
Representatives from Friends of the Blue Ridge will be in attendance to discuss their group’s work towards enhancing ecological beauty, cultural vitality, and quality of life in Virginia’s Blue Ridge communities through volunteerism, giving, and local partnerships.
Take It Outside will also offer an instructional conversation on Leave No Trace principles. The guidelines set forth in Leave No Trace address practices that help maintain the quality and beauty of our favorite outdoor spaces, like the many destinations throughout the Blue Ridge Mountains. Other topics will include tips for day hiking, backpacking, and how to choose and use appropriate outdoor gear for every type of excursion.
To top off a fun session of learning how to enjoy the outdoors more responsibly, there will be raffle drawings for great outdoor-themed and Mast Store prizes!
Join us from 11 a.m. – Noon, Saturday, May 13, at the Roanoke Mast General Store for an exciting new perspective on the great outdoors at Take It Outside!
