Acevedo was born and raised in New York City. Her poetry is infused with Dominican bolero and her beloved city's tough grit. She has been featured on BET, delivered TED talks, and has performed at The Lincoln Center, Madison Square Garden, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and South Africa's State Theatre. Her poetry videos have been shared by PBS, Latina magazine, Cosmopolitan, and Upworthy. Acevedo is a National Poetry Slam Champion and her poetry manuscript, & Other Origin Myths, was published last fall. Black History Month event. |
