Thursday, April 29 – Sunday, May 2, 2021
Presented as a script-in-hand Zoom reading, this iconic feminist play by Cuban American playwright María Irene Fornés is a unique environmental theatre event unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Directed by Lauren Brooke Ellis. Although ostensibly about a group of women who gather to plan a fundraiser, in her play Fornés breaks apart and examines what it means to exist within the bounds of patriarchy, both externally and internally. As the group of women explore their own relationships to these systems and to each other, the rules of realism blur and everything takes on deeper and metaphoric meanings. Much like a cubist painting, this play is an experiment in perception that asks the audience to never take things at face value. April 29-May 1, 7:30 pm Admission: Free and open to the public. |
