Join the Kiwanis Club of Roanoke Wednesday August 19 for our weekly meeting in Charter Hall on the third floor of the City Market Building; networking and lunch begin at 12:00PM. We will listen to Dr. Lee Learman, Dean of the Virginia Tech School of Medicine, talk about the significant growth of the organization.
Dr. Learman was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia and grew up in southern California. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychobiology from UCLA, and both a medical degree and a PhD in social psychology from Harvard University, before completing a residency in OBGYN at UCLA. During his 14 years at UC San Francisco, he directed the OBGYN residency program, conducted research to support clinical decision making, and was promoted to professor. He moved to Roanoke in 2019 to be dean of the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine after 11 years of additional experience as a department chair and associate dean. After practicing the full scope of OBGYN for 25 years, Dr. Learman now focuses on ambulatory care and clinical education.
