Description

Join the Roanoke Regional Chamber for the next installment of the VBR Series presented by inFirst Credit Union: State of CTE presented by Roanoke Higher Education Center, as we take a closer look at the current landscape and future of Career & Technical Education (CTE) across our region.

State of CTE will bring together education leaders from across the Roanoke Region to share how local school divisions are preparing students for success through hands-on learning, workforce readiness, industry partnerships, and innovative career pathways.

This important regional conversation will feature opening remarks and presentations from Dr. Verletta White, Superintendent of Roanoke City Public Schools alongside Kathy Duncan, Director of CTE Programs for RCPS, Dr. Ken Nicely of Roanoke County Public Schools, and Jeff Bird, CTE Administrator & Region 6 CTE President.

Following the presentations, attendees will hear from a dynamic panel featuring both a CTE administrator and student representative from each of the following school divisions:

  • Roanoke City Public Schools
  • Roanoke County Public Schools
  • Salem City Schools
  • Botetourt County Public Schools
  • Franklin County Public Schools

Together, these panelists will offer real-world insight into the programs, opportunities, challenges, and successes shaping CTE throughout the region.

This event is designed for business leaders, educators, workforce partners, and community stakeholders who want to better understand how our schools are building talent pipelines and preparing the next generation of workers and leaders in Virginia’s Blue Ridge.
