Pavlic is distinguished research professor of English and creative writing at the University of Georgia. Author of seven collections of poetry and two critical studies, he is also director of the Ph.D. program in creative writing. His new books are Let's Let That Are Not Yet: Inferno and Who Can Afford to Improvise?: James Baldwin and Black Music, the Lyric and the Listeners. Recent works areVisiting Hours at the Color Line, But Here Are Small Clear Refractions, and Winners Have Yet to be Announced: A Song for Donny Hathaway. His other books are Paraph of Bone & Other Kinds of Blue, Crossroads Modernism: Descent and Emergence in African American Literary Culture, and Labors Lost Left Unfinished.
