Description
Physician Assistant and Occupational Therapy students at Jefferson College of Health Sciences are hosting a community-wide Flood Relief Drive from Wednesday, June 29 to Friday July 8, 2016. All donations benefit victims of last week’s devastating storm and flash flooding in West Virginia.
“As a physician assistant working in Roanoke, we see a large number of patients who travel from eastern West Virginia for medical care,” said program director Dr. Sara Nicely. “Right now, countless people are lacking basic necessities like clean drinking water and food.”
Cosponsored by Capt. Sean Grimes Physician Assistant Student Society and Student Occupational Therapy Association, the drive accepts bleach, bleach wipes, shovels, buckets, mops, trash bags, paper towels, diapers, baby food, baby formula, water, small kitchen appliances, toiletries, batteries and medical supplies including alcohol, hydrogen peroxide and bandages. Item drop-off locations are available on the third floor of Jefferson College located within Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital at 101 Elm. Ave SE, Roanoke, VA 24013.
