Bastille Networks is looking for an entry-level Operations Engineer to join our team at our Roanoke, VA facility. This role is ideal for recent graduates who are eager to gain hands-on experience with enterprise hardware, networking, and IT operations in a fast-paced technology environment. The position is fully on-site and regularly involves lifting, moving, and installing equipment weighing up to 100 lbs. Team lifting and material-handling equipment are used where appropriate.

Position Overview

As an Operations Engineer, you will play a hands-on role in building, configuring, and testing Bastille’s proprietary systems as they move through our production pipeline. You’ll gain exposure to servers, virtualization platforms, networking equipment, and enterprise IT workflows. In addition, you’ll support internal IT operations by assisting with employee onboarding, responding to technical support requests, and helping maintain our internal infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure and troubleshoot systems running Windows, Windows Server, macOS, and Debian-based Linux distributions

• Install and configure ESXi or Proxmox, along with provided virtual machines

• Identify and troubleshoot server hardware and components

• Diagnose and resolve Cisco networking issues

• Rack, cable, and teardown servers and networking equipment
   

Preferred Qualifications

• Coursework, certification, or hands-on experience equivalent to Cisco CCNA

• CompTIA A+, Network+, Server+, or similar foundational certifications (or in progress)

• Experience working with servers, networking equipment, or lab environments 

• Interest in datacenter operations, enterprise networking, or IT infrastructure
