Mill Mountain Theatre
Mill Mountain Theatre
About
Mill Mountain Theatre is a professional regional theatre in downtown Roanoke, and has been a fixture of Roanoke arts and culture since its founding in 1964. Currently operating at Center in the Square, MMT will produce 12 productions in the 2020 season and co- produce 2 new works festivals with the Hollins Theatre Institute. MMT has a strong relationship with Actors' Equity Association, as well as the Southeastern Theatre Conference. An integral arm of MMT is our Education department, which covers pre-professional training for ages K-adult, an immersive summer apprenticeship for college- ages student performers, and community outreach that takes work outside of the theatre's walls and into the community. MMT utlilizes a small staff, bringing in contract employees as required for individual performances, and continues to grow our staff and programming, carefully balancing artistic integrity and financial security. With strong partnerships and collaborations with Roanoke community organizations, and much of the $1.5 million budget spent with local businesses, MMT has been recognized by the Virginia commission for the Arts as a key component of the state's cultural life, and is in the top rank of arts organizations receiving annual operating grants.
