Build Smart Institute's mission is to educate and train individuals to become career-ready and advance within construction industry occupations.

Build Smart Institute serves southwest Virginia and beyond providing students with industry standard, nationally recognized credentials in the construction industry. Courses combine classroom instruction with hands-on training in the skills lab by expert instructors to provide quality training for skilled tradespeople.

In addition to the trades including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC, also available are professional development courses such as Blueprint Reading, Project Management, and Estimating, among others.

Build Smart employs an authorized OSHA instructor on site and delivers Red Cross First Aid and CPR training monthly.

Professional development courses are available in person or in a virtual setting, and some courses may be completed online in a self-paced environment.
