About Us

Huddle Up Moms (HUM) is dedicated to empowering mothers through education, connection, support, and advocacy. Initially founded on the principle of "Women Helping Women," we've evolved into a sustainable community offering comprehensive services to new mothers in need. HUM serves as a lifeline for all mothers in Roanoke and surrounding areas, particularly low-income new mothers, providing support to thousands of families with diapers, formula, essential items, education, and mental health assistance. Our initiatives include 14 peer-to-peer support groups for various types of mothers, numerous free educational workshops, the Support Shop offering baby necessities free of charge, and our Women’s Resource Summit connecting women with providers and organizations to name a few. Our downtown location, known as the “Haven on 5th,” operates as a collaborative space with Postpartum Support Virginia, offering wrap-around services to those most in need. Unlike government-assisted programs, our mothers receive care, support, and services without strict regulation, ensuring equitable access to the resources they require. We have several educational programs and our largest one funded by the CDC and VDH providers blood pressure education and care coordination to pregnant mothers at risk for cardiovascular disease. Our newest capital project is to create Southwest Virginia's first Diaper Bank. Please send an email if you are dedicated to empowering mothers in our community and want to partner in these initiatives.
