About Us

Local Colors of Western VA is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that celebrates ethnic heritages from around the globe and fosters the values of inclusion, diversity, and multicultural understanding. As a member of the city of Roanoke’s arts & culture network, Local Colors enhances the region’s attractiveness that creates economic and social well-being. Our events and services build a better community for all by breaking down silos and helping us understand each other better. Best known for the Local Colors Festival that brings many different cultures together, Local Colors also hosts the Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration and collaborates with other organizations to host events for Lunar New Year, Nowruz (Persian New Year), and African cultures. Local Colors works with community partners, schools, businesses and civic organizations for community engagement that creates a better understanding for all. Our events and services are free to the public so that our multicultural platform is accessible to all.
